Why did you name your company The Ugly Pinch Pot?
We discovered our love of pottery while home during the pandemic, using air-dry and oven-baked clay. When the world finally re-opened, we signed up for a pottery class, giving us access to the studio’s kiln. Our first class was learning about making pinch pots; however, we ‘may’ have been a little preoccupied and missed the instructor asking for a pinch pot from everyone before leaving. We spent the last few minutes of class pinching so fast we thought our fingers would fall off. A few weeks later, after classes on glazing and firing, we completed our intro to pottery class, and we were presented with our final pinch pots. They were terrible! We promised to hide them, never to be seen again. In early 2024, our pottery became more than a hobby, and we found ourselves needing a business name. One afternoon, our brainstorming turned into giggles as we talked about our pinch pots. Those ugly pinch pots. The name seemed perfect!

Where can I shop and purchase your pieces?
In April 2026, we were notified that our retail space at the Painted Tree in Cary, NC was ending due to the closure of the company nationwide. Boo! We decided to take this as our push to focus on sales through our website and our social media pages. We see this as an opportunity to share our pieces with those further than our local market, which is something we have been asked about quite a bit. We are very excited about this next step in our business journey! We hope to have this up and running soon!

Will you be attending any vendor fairs or holiday shows where I can purchase your products?
Yes! We are currently working on our show schedule for 2026. At this time, our events will be within North Carolina, but we have some really exciting possibilites outside of the state coming in 2027! Stay tuned for that. In the meantime, the best way to know where to find us is to follow us on social media where we will post more information.
